This was my favorite myth that I heard while pregnant and nursing. I think some moms just try to convince you of this “truth” without ever actually evaluating the big picture. Yes formula is expensive, but so is breastfeeding if you have no self control like me.
While I was not buying formula, I was buying bags for my pump so when I was at work there would be some kind if stash for my daughter. I was also buying replacement parts for my pump like flanges, tubes, membranes and anything else that wears out with daily pumping. That’s just covering the hard parts for pumping.
Then you factor in an Amazon addiction, and you end up with something more expensive than formula could ever be. I’m certain I convinced myself at the time that I needed these things, and since I was saving so much money nursing I could afford them! Haha, no.
The start of my breastfeeding journey was also the beginning of my Amazon problem. Etsy isn’t innocent either. I just didn’t get as hooked, because although made with love, if I could find it on Amazon it was usually cheaper, and uh, Free Shipping!
Now Amazon is not evil, my lack of self control is evil. Every time I would sit down to nurse my daughter, my phone would come out and the Amazon app would somehow, magically open on it’s own! Crazy right! Then, like it had a mind of it’s own, my phone would just start scrolling and buying!
I’m joking, but it sounded better than admitting I would randomly buy a whole lot of kinda useless things. Most of this stuff was so perfect and I needed it at the moment. Once said stuff arrived, I usually didn’t need it anymore, funny how that happens!
I have learned a little self control lately. Mostly because I saw my credit score from my crappy money management lol. Now I set limits for the year to recover for the next holiday or major purchase.

Oh yea, and if you are already addicted, feel free to share with us below in the comments section some of the items you just had to have and then never used, or maybe even had to have and absolutely love now!
